Ethos & Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Scoil Mhuire is a Religious Sisters of Charity Catholic school, the only one in the west of Ireland. We seek to ensure that our school's Code of Behaviour will work in harmony with our school's philosophy and ethos. Our school Mission Statement states that:

"The aims and values of Scoil Mhuire, Clarinbridge are to provide a happy and secure and effective learning place in which all work together to create an encouraging environment, where each person is facilitated to develop as a whole person, acquiring the necessary skills- religious, social, intellectual, emotional, cultural and physical-to enjoy a full and satisfying life. Through the co-operation of the whole school community- teachers, pupils, parents/guardians, management staff etc. and in a spirit of collaboration and partnership, the values of courtesy, honesty, loyalty, and respect of people and property are upheld".

This means that all pupils are encouraged to play their part in making Scoil Mhuire a place where we can all work happily and learn to the best of our abilities what we need to know.

Ethos

The above mission statement is linked to the broader ethos of the Religious Sisters of Charity (RSC) Catholic schools, in the tradition of the philosophy of the founders, Mary Aikenhead, RSC schools are centres of learning which are open to all which aim at excellence in the areas of religious, moral, social, affective, cultural, physical and intellectual development.

All families are asked to respect the Catholic ethos of the school. The RSC's Religious and Educational Philosophy also states that:

"The Religious Sisters of Charity are committed to the education of young people in a way that reflects the vision of our foundress, Mary Aikenhead... Our religious and educational philosophy promotes Gospel values by accommodating diversity: having an open and inclusive approach to all students, irrespective of culture or religion".
